Pet Emergencies

Quarry Ridge Animal Hospital is equipped to see small animal and exotic pets on an emergency basis. During hospital hours, proceed directly to our practice. Do call ahead, if possible: 203-438-8878. Please drive safely.
Your pet's condition should be addressed immediately if you observe any of the following symptoms:

- Severe vomiting or diarrhea
- Blood in vomit or stool/diarrhea
- Inability to urinate or defecate
- Difficulty breathing
- Difficulty standing/walking
- Repeat or prolonged seizures

- Wounds or trauma
- Excessive bleeding
- Symptoms of heat stroke
- High or low body temperature
- Sudden increase in size of the abdomen
- Ingestion of harmful substances

After hospital hours, on Sundays, and on holidays when the practice is closed, calls are answered by our partners at Cornell University Veterinary Specialists in Stamford. True emergencies will be referred to one of the 24-hour emergency clinics listed below. Emergent conditions requiring round-the-clock treatment or monitoring will also be referred to one of these facilities.
For toxic ingestion, call the ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center at 888-426-4435. They are available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
